We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Newborn Hearing Screener at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trusts. As a key member of our Maternity and Family Health Service, you will play a vital role in ensuring the early detection and management of hearing impairments in newborn babies.
Key Responsibilities- Perform newborn hearing screens using specialized equipment, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
- Collect and maintain accurate clinical test records, utilizing computer and administrative skills.
- Develop and maintain effective communication with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and caregivers.
- Identify and report faulty equipment, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
- Support a family-centered culture, ensuring no screens are missed and that early discharges, home births, and out-of-area babies are identified.
- Generate appointments for babies leaving hospital without a hearing screening performed within national timescales.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to infection control and prevention policies.
- Monitor stock control and ensure the safety and security of test equipment.
- Undertake mandatory training and professional development.
- GCSE or equivalent qualifications, including English and Mathematics, or evidence of competency gained through experience.
- Commitment to personal development and ongoing learning.
- Experience of working with babies and mothers, multi-agency working, and patient confidentiality and data protection.
- Computer literacy, with the ability to use a variety of IT programs, and administrative skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and under pressure, with a flexible approach to work arrangements.
