Role Responsibilities
Your daily activities will include:
- Delivering high-quality statistical guidance and analysis to inform discussions and influence policy decisions
- Utilizing various software tools and analytical methodologies

- Overseeing aspects of statistical production and effectively communicating your findings
- Innovating and addressing challenges in data management and analysis
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience in applying analysis or research with a comprehensive understanding of data sources
- The ability to manage their workload while contributing to statistical outputs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex analyses to non-specialists and engaging effectively with stakeholders
- A collaborative spirit to work within a team to provide high-quality statistical advice and analysis, often under tight deadlines
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates should have or be on track to obtain by September 2024:
- A first or second class honours degree in a numerate discipline (minimum 2:2 for Statistical Officer) with at least 25% statistical content (such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Sciences, Business Studies, Psychology, Geography, Data Science, or similar);
- Alternatively, a higher degree, such as an MSc or PhD, in a field that includes formal statistical training.
Alternatively, candidates may apply if they:
- Have a minimum of two years of experience in a statistical or data science role and can demonstrate Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in applying statistics or data science at a level comparable to a foundation degree or Higher National Diploma;
- Have achieved or are on track to achieve a level 4 apprenticeship, including at least two years in a statistical/data analysis role within government, and can demonstrate CPD in statistics/data analysis.
