Position Summary:

Are you enthusiastic about improving the student experience? As a Learning Support Advisor at BIMM Institute, you will be instrumental in ensuring that students with learning requirements or disabilities receive exceptional support services. Your role will involve managing a caseload of students, providing assistance from their application process through their initial semester and beyond, ensuring that their educational journey is both accessible and well-supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students in recognizing and addressing their learning requirements, collaborating closely with applicants and current students.
  • Coordinate with the DSA Team and NMH providers to secure support and funding for students.
  • Develop learner profiles and communicate individual needs to relevant personnel while upholding confidentiality.
  • Champion equity, diversity, and inclusion in student wellbeing initiatives, acting as a strong advocate for all students.
  • Work in conjunction with the Student Wellbeing Manager and Admissions team to address support needs and facilitate enrollment and induction processes.
  • Maintain precise records of student needs, support provided, and actions taken for effective documentation.

Qualifications:

  • A good standard of general education is essential, with a degree being preferred.
  • Prior experience in supporting young adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is crucial, with experience in a Student Wellbeing role being beneficial.
  • Strong administrative capabilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft applications are required.
  • An empathetic and inclusive approach, resilience, and the ability to manage a demanding workload are essential.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the role of Learning Support within a higher education framework is necessary.
