We are seeking to hire two Lead Pharmacy Operations Specialists to strengthen our team within our dynamic and welcoming Medicines Distribution Centre (MDC). The MDC is currently undergoing significant improvements.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising the Pharmacy Support Workers in the Medicines Packing Unit while managing the ordering and receipt of medications as they arrive and depart from the unit. Additional responsibilities include pouch packing and conducting quality assurance checks.

The Medicines Distribution Centre operates on a two-shift basis, and as a Lead Pharmacy Operations Specialist, you will follow a fixed shift pattern covering either early or late shifts five days a week. These details will be discussed during the recruitment process.

Main Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Provide daily support and direction for the activities of the Medicines Support Workers, actively contributing to the achievement of goals through both individual and team efforts. This includes establishing an effective weekly schedule, managing workflow, and assigning tasks for pouch packing while controlling risks.
  • Assist team members in achieving their relevant objectives by offering guidance and support as needed.
  • Ensure that resources are utilized efficiently and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Promote the smooth flow of work within the department and communicate with distribution hubs and stations when challenges arise.
  • Collaborate with senior professionals and related functions to ensure that tasks are completed on schedule, avoiding oversight or duplication.
  • Contribute to inventory management within the department, including participating in stock audits, identifying and resolving discrepancies, and proactively ensuring that urgently needed medications are sourced.

Job Responsibilities:

The Pharmacy team at the Medicines Distribution Centre plays a crucial role in supporting frontline ambulance operations. The Pharmacy Support Workers are essential in preparing medication pouches for use by frontline staff in accordance with Trust Policies and Procedures.

Candidate Requirements:

Experience:

  • Supervisory experience in a team setting.
  • Ability to influence clinical and operational personnel.
  • Capability to plan and organize personal workload to meet competing priorities and targets.
  • Experience in a pharmacy environment.
  • Experience in medication packing.

Education:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft or other IT software.
  • GCSE or equivalent grade C or above in English and Mathematics.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification.

Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
