About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Specialist to join our team at Trafford Council. As a Commissioning Specialist for Older Adults, you will be responsible for leading a portfolio of commissioning activities related to older people in Trafford.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commissioning process, including managing service reviews, developments, and innovations to maximize outcomes, ensure value for money, and service improvement.
  • Oversee the continued development of the Quality Assurance Framework for Commissioned providers, together with our Provider Concerns system to collate intelligence to drive quality improvement.
  • Support our ASC colleagues with complex cases in respect of discharges, ensuring safe and efficient discharges, positively challenging provider decisions where necessary to expedite those discharge arrangements, particularly at periods of system escalation.
  • Work closely with our Adult Health and Social Care colleagues to develop our commissioning approach so that we make a difference for people needing our services, ensuring we have a sustainable offer to support the wider system across Trafford.
  • Focus on Hospital Discharge processes and admission avoidance, Quality Assurance, and Discharge to Assess, Extra Care, and transforming homecare and reablement provisions together with improving our community offer for our residents.

About You

You will be committed to making a difference through your work. You will be able to demonstrate a track record of working in partnership with providers and residents to deliver change which improves outcomes for residents.

You will have extensive experience and knowledge in the varied aspects of commissioning. You will be able to focus on your area of responsibility with the ability to think and plan strategically towards improvements and efficiencies.

You will take personal responsibility to resolve issues and change what you do and how you do it, to be effective. You will have a good grasp of data and finances and be able to develop costed proposals as part of your work together with sound negotiation skills.

Additional Information

Flexibility will be required to work outside core hours on occasions. The office is open from 7.00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. but we operate an agile working policy in line with COVID requirements.
