About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Infrastructure/Construction team at Mace. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and maintaining exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability, and project compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety First: You will be an advocate of Mace's value of safety first and be accountable for leading and maintaining exceptional safety standards.
  • Technical Expertise: You will possess technical expertise in local health and safety rules and regulations relevant to project portfolio.
  • Construction Delivery: You will work as part of the construction delivery team, taking direction from the construction lead and project senior leadership team.
  • Client Relationship: You will build a strong working relationship with your clients and support the construction lead in turning the client's vision into a deliverable onsite plan.
  • Site Representation: Act as Network Rail's day-to-day site representative to monitor that the contractor's site activities are conducted safely and efficiently with minimum impact on the environment and operational railway.
  • Compliance: Monitor that site activities comply with GRIP or PACE, relevant rules, regulations, railway group, and network rail's company standards and all applicable procedures and legislation.
  • Method Statements and Risk Assessments: Review in conjunction with the protection engineer, the contractor's method statements and site-specific risk assessments.
  • Site Meetings and Inspections: Monitor the contractor's management of site works by regular site meetings and inspections, comparing work in progress with contract documentation, and information given at site meetings and with the overall contract programme.
  • Functional Support: Provides functional support to project managers as directed.
Requirements
  • Relevant Experience: Relevant successful construction experience in the railway industry.
  • Commercial Awareness: Commercial awareness.
  • Principal Contractor Management: Ability to manage a principal contractor and their subcontractors.
  • Certifications: CSCS/CITB SMTS scheme, Nebosh certificate, safety management awareness/training, and working towards membership of MCIOB/MAPM/MRICS/MICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Project Delivery: Experience in the successful delivery phase of projects and programmes in the Rail sector.
  • Construction Management: Construction management expertise.
  • Commercial and Financial Acumen: Developing commercial and financial acumen.
  • Team Leadership: Experience leading parts of construction projects within large, diverse teams.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Experience of building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Sustainability: Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
