Are you an experienced painter and decorator seeking a versatile position that allows you to work across various sites? Wiltshire College & University Centre is looking for a committed Facilities Maintenance Officer (Painting & Decorating) to enhance our maintenance team. If you are passionate about maintaining vibrant and aesthetically pleasing environments, this role may be ideal for you.

You will be tasked with delivering a high-quality painting and decorating service across multiple campuses, ensuring the upkeep and visual appeal of our educational facilities.

Key Responsibilities of the Facilities Maintenance Officer (Painting & Decorating):

  • Painting and Decorating: Execute all facets of painting and decorating, both indoors and outdoors, while adhering to safety protocols involving ladders and scaffolding.
  • Condition Assessments: Collaborate with Site Managers to perform condition assessments and maintain a work schedule, identifying essential maintenance, repairs, and new initiatives.
  • Supervision: Manage and schedule tasks for up to 2 trade apprentices, mentoring them in their professional growth.
  • General Maintenance: Assist with various maintenance tasks outside your primary skill set to ensure campus readiness.
  • Site Coverage: Provide support for Site Officers as required, including evening, weekend, and occasional emergency duties.
  • Team Support: Aid team members with daily and planned maintenance and porterage responsibilities.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the upkeep and repair of tools and equipment within safe operational limits.
  • Safe Operation: Operate tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Grounds Maintenance: Engage in grounds upkeep, caretaking, porterage, and emergency cleaning on a rotational basis.
  • Security Responsibilities: Occasionally perform security tasks, including emergency callouts (with additional compensation).

Qualifications for the Facilities Maintenance Officer (Painting & Decorating):

To be considered for this role, you should possess:

  • A Level 2 (GCSE A-C) qualification or equivalent in English and Maths, or a willingness to pursue them.
  • A minimum Level 2 NVQ (or equivalent) in Painting/Decorating or demonstrable relevant experience.
  • A current first aid certification or a commitment to obtain one.
