About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Course Leader to join our team at BIMM Institute. As a key member of our academic leadership team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our students and contributing to the success of our institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Course Leader in delivering an exceptional student learning experience, ensuring that our students receive the highest quality education and support.
  • Plan and deliver optimal teaching schedules and assessments, providing academic and pastoral support to our students.
  • Ensure equal access and opportunities for all students, closing the awarding gap for underrepresented groups.
  • Maintain curriculum quality and implement enhancement plans to ensure our programs remain relevant and effective.
  • Engage in professional development and scholarly activities to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
  • Lead, manage, and develop teaching staff through effective recruitment and ongoing development, ensuring that our team is equipped to deliver outstanding education.
  • Contribute to the teaching of the course, sharing your expertise and knowledge with our students.
  • Address staff and student discipline issues, including complaints and academic integrity, in a fair and impartial manner.
  • Collaborate with professional services to ensure efficient timetabling and campus space use.
  • Promote student voice and well-being, serving as the escalation point for student success concerns.
  • Participate in processes to enhance the university's academic character, contributing to our mission to nurture creativity and empower students to reach their full potential.
  • Manage data collection, monitoring, and reporting on key activities like attendance, pass/fail rates, and student feedback.
Requirements
  • Extensive Music Industry experience, with a strong understanding of the creative arts sector.
  • A degree or equivalent higher education qualification, with a teaching qualification relevant to higher education or a willingness to achieve this within two years.
  • Experience of cohort management and course administrative skills, with a proven track record of improving teaching quality and successful student outcomes.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team to deliver high-quality education and outstanding student outcomes.
  • Experience in developing initiatives to enhance student engagement and action plans based on student feedback.
  • Expertise in curriculum and teaching development, understanding quality and standards in higher education and creative arts.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
