About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate/Fellow to join our team at the School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine & Sciences, King's College London. The successful candidate will work on a British Heart Foundation and NIHR jointly funded project, "Evaluation of First-Phase Ejection Fraction (EF1) in Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy (CRT)", under the supervision of Dr Haotian Gu.

The post involves assisting in study coordination, performing echocardiography, vascular and other assessments, and working with adult patients in a clinical setting. The Research Associate/Fellow will be responsible for performing physiological measurements and data analysis, and will be expected to be competent in performing and reporting clinical and research echocardiography examinations independently. A British Society of Echocardiography Adult Transthoracic Accreditation or equivalent is essential.

The work will be based mainly in the Clinical Research Facility, at St Thomas' Hospital, and will involve travel to other study sites to perform study-related investigations. This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and a fixed-term contract until 31/10/2027.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in study coordination and performing echocardiography, vascular and other assessments
  • Work with adult patients in a clinical setting, performing physiological measurements and data analysis
  • Be competent in performing and reporting clinical and research echocardiography examinations independently
  • Travel to other study sites to perform study-related investigations
Requirements
  • PhD in a subject relevant to cardiovascular research or equivalent clinical experience
  • British Society of Echocardiography Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography Accreditation or equivalent
  • Clinical echocardiographic experience – equivalent to NHS Band 7
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular physiology
  • Good written and presentation skills
  • Experience in cardiovascular research management
  • Experience with vascular ultrasound
  • Experience in the grant application
  • Experience in conference presentation
  • Experience in research publication
