An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Lead Researcher in Cardiovascular MRI Physics within the Cardiovascular Division of Imperial College London. This division is pioneering advancements in non-invasive magnetic resonance methodologies aimed at exploring the intricate structure and functionality of the heart at a microscopic level. These innovative techniques have resulted in significant breakthroughs in understanding the microscopic mechanisms of cardiac contraction and its impairments across various heart conditions.
The successful candidate will be integrated into the cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) unit, collaborating with a skilled team of physicists, computer scientists, clinicians, and technologists dedicated to developing diagnostic and prognostic methodologies for clinical application. The appointee will play a crucial role in advancing research within the division, with a particular emphasis on diffusion CMR.
The individual is expected to establish an independent research agenda in cardiovascular MRI physics, focusing on diffusion-based techniques.
- Develop a comprehensive range of research initiatives within the diffusion cardiovascular magnetic resonance domain.
- Encourage and nurture national and international scientific partnerships with leading research institutions.
- Instruct and mentor both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Exhibit outstanding leadership capabilities in relation to personal performance, academic teams, and collaborative efforts within the institution.
Essential Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent in magnetic resonance physics.
- Substantial experience (appropriate for a lead researcher) in directing the development and validation of cardiovascular MRI techniques within research frameworks that have resulted in published works and significant presentations.
- Proven experience in training undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Ability to contribute significantly to the management and leadership of the department.
