Role: Planning & Scheduling Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Planning Manager to join our team at Network Rail. As a key member of our planning department, you will be responsible for producing programme planning information to support the delivery of all project work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all planning and scheduling information from project teams, maintenance contractors, and regional investment teams.
  • Develop and implement the planning process in conformance to Network Rail and TRU standards.
  • Develop and maintain Level 1 Master Schedule review and Level 2 Summary Schedule that incorporate all the work planned for the Project (maintenance and renewals), with appropriate milestones to track the overall programme.
  • Develop and maintain a planning database that will allow strategic planning information to be stored and managed.
  • Coordinate all works and access requirements with the Route Access Manager's team and support them throughout the annual ROR process and possession planning process.
  • Facilitate strategic priorities are being observed by individual delivery groups, including all project and maintenance activities.
  • Assist Project Directors with strategic level planning decisions.
  • Provide support to Project Controls reporting staff.

Requirements:

  • Experience of Major Rail projects is essential.
  • Minimum 5 years experience of Project/Programme planning and associated software planning tools.
  • Minimum 10 years experience of a major engineering projects ideally in Rail.
  • Graduate level with some degree of strategic thinking.
  • Must be prepared to travel and stay away from home when required.
  • Extensive knowledge of schedule assurance processes on Project and programmes.
  • Familiarity of NEC contract suite or Network rail suite of contracts.
