Principal Automotive Functional Safety Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Automotive Functional Safety Engineer to join our team at Semtech Corporation. As a key member of our design centre in Bristol, you will be responsible for ensuring the functional safety of our products, particularly in the autonomous, robotic driving portfolio.
Responsibilities- Conduct thorough safety analysis of systems and components to ensure compliance with stringent safety requirements.
- Develop and implement safety and security concepts, including control diagrams and safe state machines, to ensure ISO 26262 compliance.
- Collaborate with product definition and R&D teams to deliver designs that meet safety and security standards.
- Guide reliability studies for hardware and software, including fault metrics calculations and FMEDA.
- Support customer reviews with functional safety input and provide technical confirmation measure reviews.
- Drive technical impact analyses for safety anomalies and conduct oversight of technical confirmation measure reviews.
- Deliver solutions to complex problems by providing systematic answers that impact mechanical, software, and hardware systems.
- Minimum MSc degree in electrical/electronics, automotive, or relevant field.
- 12+ years of professional experience in automotive systems and components, with a strong understanding of communication, control, and processing sub-systems.
- Profound knowledge of hardware safety standards, including ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.
- Profound experience in safety verification and validation of sub-systems.
- Solid knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing and product development for automotive applications.
- Expert Functional Safety Practitioner certification.
- Executive knowledge on Quality, ISO 26262, and Deviation management.
- Experience in concept engineering, system modelling, SysML, Enterprise Architecture, or expertise with similar tools.
- Demonstrated ability in interpreting and assessing complex vehicle systems and architectures regarding safety.
- Profound experience in automotive safety (ISO 26262: ASIL-B and ASIL-D) and its application within ASIC designs.
- Experience in autonomous driving, sensors, and robotics.
- Knowledge of software development processes, standards, or guidelines (ASPICE, MISRA) as well as scripting and document generation tools (Python, LaTeX).
