About the Role

NSB Recruitment Ltd is excited to present an exceptional opportunity for a Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Consultant to join a forward-thinking organization that is revolutionizing the Biodiversity Net Gain sector through innovative solutions and strategic initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct planning initiatives with a primary emphasis on achieving Biodiversity Net Gain.
  • Offer expert insights and recommendations on biodiversity conservation and enhancement strategies to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, surveys, and impact evaluations to guide planning decisions and mitigation approaches.
  • Collaborate with the in-house ecology team to devise and execute Biodiversity Net Gain strategies and action plans, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and guidelines.
  • Engage with governmental bodies to ensure compliance with biodiversity regulations and to secure necessary permits.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with Local Planning Authorities, conservation organizations, and other key stakeholders.
  • Work alongside multi-disciplinary teams, including ecologists and landscape architects, to integrate biodiversity considerations into planning proposals.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends and developments in biodiversity conservation and planning policy to enhance decision-making and best practices.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports, including Habitat Management Plans and Biodiversity Gain Plans, to clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Mentor junior staff in understanding and implementing biodiversity-related planning processes.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Planning, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental planning.
  • Extensive knowledge of biodiversity legislation, policies, and guidelines.
  • A proven track record in managing planning projects focused on biodiversity, including experience with Biodiversity Net Gain plans.
  • Strong understanding of ecological principles, including habitat assessments and ecological impact evaluations.
  • Experience engaging with government bodies, with established relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex information effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess biodiversity impacts within planning contexts.
  • Proficiency in relevant planning and biodiversity assessment software.
