About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accelerator Operator to join our team at Diamond Light Source. As a key member of our Accelerator Operations Group, you will be responsible for the operation of our accelerators, ensuring their smooth and efficient running.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in technical operations, with experience in responding to abnormal conditions, identifying causes, and recovering from interruptions. You will work closely with our Experimental Hall Coordinator on shift, sharing emergency control duties, including first aid and response to building alarms.

As a Senior Accelerator Operator, you will also contribute to improvements in procedures and documentation, collect and record data on incidents, and perform the role of a Radiation Protection Supervisor for the accelerators. You will be responsible for operating Permit To Work procedures, acting as an Emergency Controller, and providing technical support to other technical groups.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a HNC/HND level qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject, such as mechanical, electrical, or science. You will also require significant experience in a technical or science environment, with the ability to learn and understand complex control systems.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with good communication and IT skills, who can work effectively as part of a team and under pressure. You will need to be able to work within our required shift patterns, reliably get to our campus for shift times, and help cover unexpected absences.
