Job Summary

The Bradford Council is seeking a highly skilled Definitive Map Officer to lead on Definitive Map related work within the Countryside and Rights of Way Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on Definitive Map related work, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maintain and update the legal record of public rights of way.
  • Determine route status through archive research and evaluation of user evidence for public rights of way.
  • Provide expert advice on the De-regulation Act and its implications for Definitive Map work.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Travel to other offices and venues, and make occasional site visits, often unaccompanied.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience of working with relevant legislation relating to maintaining and updating the legal record of public rights of way.
  • Knowledge of the De-regulation Act and its implications for Definitive Map work.
  • Experience of determining route status through archive research and evaluation of user evidence for public rights of way.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the relevant parts of the CROW Act 2000.
  • Desirable: experience of using GIS mapping processes.
