Materials Controller

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Materials Controller to join our team at Workshop Recruitment. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of materials to our production units and maintaining stock accuracy.
Main Responsibilities:- Interpret production plans and raw material requirements to ensure accurate stock levels and efficient material delivery.
- Conduct regular stock checks to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
- Investigate and resolve any issues related to stock accuracy, including transactional errors and material variances.
- Report any issues related to short deliveries from suppliers to the planning and procurement department.
- Ensure the safe and efficient transfer of raw materials and finished goods between warehouses.
- Plan and control the unloading of inbound deliveries and site movements.
- Report any accidents or near misses to the Team Leader or Warehouse Manager.
- Authorize work instructions and ensure team resources align with tasks required to maintain production.
- Conduct full stock checks and report any discrepancies to the Accounts Department.
- Raise shop orders and alter them as needed to ensure accurate stock levels.
- Locate receipted goods correctly and accurately within designated zones.
- Supervise the shift, including work allocation, output, problem-solving, and sickness and absence management.
- Manage the team and ensure a smooth handover at the end of each shift.
- Monitor the system for any jams or alerts and release buffer stock as required.
- Good communication skills, including negotiation and leadership abilities.
- Use initiative for problem-solving and be numerate and literate.
- Experience of inventory control procedures and mechanical aptitude.
- Clear communicator with the ability to explain issues concisely.
- High level of knowledge and familiarity with warehousing principles, stock management, and WMS systems.
- Proven experience in ensuring workloads are achieved within set time perimeters and compliance with procedures and policies.
- Able to undertake training of new staff to the required standard.
- Previous experience with SNAP and BPCS systems.
- GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths.
- Counterbalance/Reach Truck fork lift trained.
- IOSH trained or equivalent - desirable.
- Strong communication skills, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal direction.
- Hard working, reliable, and resourceful with the ability to motivate people and be an effective team player.
- Professional, adaptable, flexible, and forward-looking with a positive 'Can do' attitude.
