About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Grounds Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the University of Reading. As a key member of our grounds maintenance team, you will be responsible for the management and maintenance of our beautiful campuses, including the planned landscape of Whiteknights, the formal gardens of London Road, and the riverside garden landscape of Greenlands.

As a Grounds Maintenance Specialist, you will be part of a team that is responsible for the upkeep of our grounds, including specimen trees, meadows, woodlands, and lakeside environments. You will work closely with our team to ensure that our campuses are well-maintained and look their best.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake all lifting, machine use, and manual tasks associated with the role
  • Work outside all year in a range of environments
  • Operate light vans and other equipment as required
  • Contribute to the safe use of common grounds maintenance tools and machines
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • GCSE or equivalent pass grade in English Language
  • Previous experience of carrying out grounds maintenance tasks, preferably in a commercial setting
  • Previous experience of the safe use of common grounds maintenance tools and machines
  • Unlimited UK valid driving licence
