Our Outpatients department at the Royal South Hants hospital, Southampton is a busy and dynamic environment, seeing and treating 1,500 patients per month. We are seeking additional Healthcare Assistants to join our focused, friendly, professional, and supportive Outpatients team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Doctors, registered Nurses, and other professional staff with the overall responsibility for all patients within the outpatient department.
  • Carry out routine patient monitoring and care duties, ensuring patients receive a high standard of care.
  • Investigate patient pathways, update patient records, and document patient information via our internal patient system.
  • Prepare patients for treatments or surgery, conduct necessary checks, and perform phlebotomy when required.
  • Work closely with Lab Technicians, providing required cross-referencing detail and background information relating to the patient and the blood sample taken.
About the Role

This is a permanent position, working a 4-day week with shift patterns from Monday to Saturday. You will be hands-on, supporting a committed and focused team, and will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Requirements
  • Past working experience in a hospital or clinical environment.
  • Completed the NVQ level 1&2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
  • Experience as a phlebotomist, taking blood samples from patients and working closely with the laboratory.
  • Computer literacy, familiar with accurately updating records and databases.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with different departments and teams.
