Job Opportunity

West Dunbartonshire Council's HSCP Family Placement Team is seeking a Senior Social Worker to manage a team of six social workers. The successful candidate will oversee assessments, support team members, and facilitate the Adoption Panel. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

The position involves close collaboration with the manager of the Fostering Service, colleagues across childcare services, and liaison with multiple agencies such as Health, Police, and Education. The successful candidate will become the registered manager for our Adoption Service, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of adoption legislation and policies, as well as a commitment to The Promise. They will be responsible for driving forward and developing the adoption service, ensuring the voices and views of children are represented.

Requirements

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children & Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. Membership with the PVG scheme is essential, and preferred applicants will be required to become members or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of social workers, overseeing assessments, and facilitating the Adoption Panel. They will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, as well as driving forward and developing the adoption service.
