Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

The Quantity Surveyor plays a pivotal role in the success of construction projects by ensuring cost-effectiveness, efficient progress, and financial control.

This role involves assessing client needs, estimating material quantities, negotiating contracts, monitoring subcontractors, and providing expert advice on financial matters. Additionally, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for preparing financial reports and collaborating closely with project stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Planning / Estimating: Develop accurate cost estimates, including materials, labour, and overhead costs.
  • Pre-contract estimating of UFH systems: Conduct thorough assessments to ensure accurate estimates.
  • Budget control: Monitor project budgets and track expenses to ensure costs are kept within budgetary constraints.
  • Procurement advice: Provide expert guidance on procurement strategies.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and schedules to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Tender support: Assist in the tendering process to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Post contract cost control: Monitor and control costs after contract award.
  • Valuations/Applications: Prepare and submit valuations and applications as required.
  • Final Accounts: Ensure accurate and timely final accounts are prepared.
  • Researching the cost of items: Conduct research to determine the cost of materials, transport, labour, and equipment.
  • Analysing data: Analyse data to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitor costs: Regularly monitor costs to ensure projects stay within estimated costs.
  • Create and manage cost value reconciliation processes: Develop and implement cost value reconciliation processes.
  • Identifying and mitigating risks: Identify and mitigate potential risks to ensure project success.
  • Manage retentions: Ensure accurate and timely management of retentions.
Key Tasks:
  • Manage quantity surveying activities: Oversee quantity surveying activities across multiple projects.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates: Develop accurate cost estimates for projects.
  • Monitor project budgets: Regularly monitor project budgets to ensure costs are kept within budgetary constraints.
  • Support the tendering process: Assist in the tendering process to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Negotiating contracts: Negotiate contracts and schedules to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Prepare regular reports: Prepare regular reports on project progress, including cost updates and variance analysis.
  • Develop and implement cost value reconciliation processes: Develop and implement cost value reconciliation processes.
