Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

The Quantity Surveyor plays a pivotal role in the success of construction projects by effectively managing costs, ensuring timely progress, and maintaining financial control.

This role requires a high degree of expertise in assessing client needs, estimating material quantities, negotiating contracts, monitoring subcontractors, and providing legal advice. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing financial reports and collaborating closely with project stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Planning / Estimating: Develop and implement cost planning strategies to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
  • Pre-contract estimating: Conduct thorough pre-contract estimating of UFH systems to ensure accurate cost projections.
  • Budget control: Monitor and control project budgets to prevent cost overruns.
  • Procurement advice: Provide expert advice on procurement strategies to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favorable terms.
  • Tender support: Support the tendering process by providing cost estimates and advice.
  • Post contract cost control: Monitor and control costs after contract award to ensure projects stay within budget.
  • Valuations/Applications: Prepare and submit valuations and applications for payment to clients.
  • Final Accounts: Prepare final accounts for projects, including cost reconciliations and financial reports.
  • Research and analysis: Conduct research and analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Cost monitoring: Monitor costs at different stages of a project to ensure it stays within estimated costs.
  • Cost value reconciliation: Develop and implement cost value reconciliation processes to ensure accurate cost reporting.
  • Risk management: Identify and mitigate risks that could impact project costs.
  • Retention management: Manage retentions and ensure they are properly accounted for in project costs.
Key Tasks:
  • Project management: Manage quantity surveying activities across multiple projects, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Cost estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates, including materials, labour, and overhead costs.
  • Project budgeting: Monitor project budgets and track expenses to ensure costs are kept within budgetary constraints.
  • Tender support: Support the tendering process by providing cost estimates and advice.
  • Contract negotiation: Negotiate contracts and schedules with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports on project progress, including cost updates and variance analysis, and present findings to senior management as needed.
  • Cost value reconciliation: Develop and implement cost value reconciliation processes to ensure accurate cost reporting.
