Payroll Officer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Officer to join our busy payroll team in Redditch. As a Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for providing a full and professional service to ensure all employees are paid correctly and treated confidentially.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage Piecework System: Ensure bonuses are calculated and paid correctly.
  • Complete Week/Month End Processes: Complete full week/month end processes on allocated payrolls.
  • Ensure Authorisation: Ensure all changes are appropriately authorised in line with company policy and applied to the payroll system.
  • Process Sickness Absences: Process sickness absences for allocated payrolls as advised by HR and ensure sickness is paid correctly.
  • Third Party Payments: Assist with the processing and payment of all Third Party Payments including all payments to HMRC.
  • Statutory Payments: Ensure all Statutory Payments (SHPP, SMP, SPP, SSP, and SAP) are applied/paid correctly for all allocated payrolls.
  • Maintain Payroll Records: Maintain and update payroll records on the payroll system.
  • Pension Scheme Administration: Assist with the administration and uploading of required data for the group's pension schemes.
  • P11d Administration: Assist with the administration of P11ds ensuring all changes in company cars are submitted in real time along with all other updated benefits.
  • Full Tax Year End Processes: Assist with full tax year end processes for all allocated payrolls.
  • Provide Cover: Provide full cover during periods of holiday and absence for all Payroll team members.
  • Reports: Produce reports from systems used in Payroll & HR systems.
Requirements:
  • Payroll Experience: Experienced, confidential and organised payroll professional.
  • Accuracy and Method: Able to work accurately and methodically at speed and cope with strict weekly and monthly deadline pressures.
  • Problem Solving: Attention to detail and logical with problem solving abilities.
  • Supervisory Experience: Experience of supervising staff.
  • IT Literacy: IT literate with payroll systems experience and excellent excel skills.
  • Knowledge: Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of payroll and related matters.
  • Team Player: Flexible, hardworking and honest individual who can work as part of a team.

In return, you can expect to receive a competitive basic salary depending on your experience of between £28,000-£33,000.
