Job Summary:

This is a challenging role in a diverse healthcare setting, requiring a Health and Safety Specialist to provide competent health and safety advice, guidance, and support to staff at all levels of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide health and safety advice and guidance to staff, promoting a positive health and safety culture.
  • Conduct health and safety audits and inspections, investigating incidents, accidents, and near misses.
  • Undertake risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Deliver health and safety training and develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Work closely with operational teams to implement and manage health and safety measures.
  • Prepare health and safety reports and provide information analysis on health and safety issues.
  • Develop and review risk assessments to ensure they are suitable and sufficient.
  • Contribute to the development of systems to capture and retrieve audit and inspection information.

Requirements:

  • Nebosh National Certificate (Level 3) or equivalent/NVQ 4 in relevant subject or equivalent.
  • Nebosh Health and Safety (level 6) Diploma or equivalent.
  • Significant experience of providing health and safety support within a complex organisation, minimum of 12 months.
  • Experience of undertaking risk assessments, performing audits and inspections, and implementing health and safety measures.
  • Knowledge of current health and safety legislation and working knowledge of health and safety databases and operational processes.
  • Ability to adopt flexible working practices and strong analysis, interpretation skills, and judgement.
