Position Overview

Chelston Hall Surgery is seeking a dedicated and skilled Clinical Specimen Collector to become a vital part of our supportive healthcare team. Our practice operates across multiple sites, staffed by a committed group of healthcare professionals focused on adapting to the evolving needs of our patients.

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with our nursing staff and will receive comprehensive training to ensure the role is executed with the utmost safety and efficiency.

This position requires a commitment of 24 hours per week. Compensation will be based on experience, and there are opportunities to participate in the NHS pension scheme along with various NHS benefits and discounts.

Key Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the senior practice nurse and in strict adherence to established protocols, the successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring patient comfort and obtaining consent for blood sample collection.
  • Collecting blood samples in accordance with established training and procedures.
  • Properly storing samples in designated containers.
  • Accurately labeling all samples to verify patient identity.
  • Verifying patient identification against requests from healthcare providers and confirming with the patient when feasible.
  • Documenting the collection of blood samples in patient records as per practice protocols.
  • Ensuring timely dispatch of samples to the appropriate laboratories.
  • Reporting any discrepancies to a senior staff member.
  • Informing the healthcare provider of any significant patient concerns.
  • Collaborating with administrative team members as needed.

Candidate Profile

Required Experience

  • Experience in a healthcare environment.

  • Experience in a general practice setting.
