Our client is seeking a dedicated Sustainability Project Manager to oversee environmental initiatives within the expanding renewable energy sector, specifically focusing on solar and battery storage projects. This role is pivotal in integrating environmental management and sustainability practices throughout the project lifecycle, from initial planning to final handover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing all environmental obligations for significant onshore solar and battery construction initiatives, while advancing our sustainability objectives and action plans, including the implementation of Biodiversity Net Gain Plans during project execution.
- Evaluating Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Environmental Reports (ER), taking charge of Construction Environmental Management Plans, and supporting project Sustainability Action Plans while ensuring compliance with environmental planning conditions.
- Coordinating environmental surveys and monitoring activities, managing scopes related to environmental contracts and contractors, contributing to the tendering process, ensuring safe work practices, and assessing contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and reports.
- Conducting regular environmental audits and inspections on-site, compiling audit reports throughout the construction phase.
- Addressing environmental risks and incidents, ensuring measures are taken to prevent further issues, identifying solutions, and disseminating lessons learned.
- Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom
- Residing in the Southeast region and willing to travel to project sites as required
- Proven experience in environmental management for large-scale construction projects, with a comprehensive understanding of environmental laws and policies.
- Membership in a relevant professional organization (e.g., IEMA or CIEEM).
- Strong commercial awareness and a solid grasp of project development and construction dynamics, including contractor management.
- Experience in conducting environmental audits and inspections within a construction context.
- A commitment to teamwork, fostering collaboration, and promoting inclusive work practices, with a solid understanding of sustainability principles.
