JOB OVERVIEW

Wood Process & Energy invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Senior C&I Engineer. This role involves contributing to various projects within our extensive portfolio, offering a minimum contract duration of 12 months.

WORK STRUCTURE

This position allows for a hybrid working model, requiring at least two days in the office each week. You will engage in diverse projects across Wood's client base.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Your Role:

  • Oversee project work as a Senior C&I Engineer, ensuring adherence to budget and timelines under the guidance of the C&I Discipline Manager.
  • Conduct instrument engineering tasks across various phases including Concept, FEED, and Detailed Design.
  • Meet safety standards as outlined in your performance contract.
  • Enhance the effectiveness of working practices and systems, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Execute work in compliance with company and project Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality protocols.
  • Uphold the technical quality of deliverables.
  • Identify and manage scope and schedule modifications in line with the Change Control Process.
  • Ensure all designs align with relevant procedures, standards, and regulations.
  • Strive to complete all assigned tasks within the agreed budget and timeline.
  • Stay informed about technical advancements, national and international standards, and legislative requirements pertinent to the discipline.
  • Assist in the preparation of project estimates and schedules.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and conduct site visits as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal Candidate:
  • Proven experience in projects within the Energy, Chemicals, and Refining sectors.
  • Familiarity with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
  • Experience working collaboratively within project teams as a Senior C&I Engineer across various industry sectors, handling projects from small to large scale.
  • Self-motivated team player capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in developing Instrument Engineering deliverables tailored to project needs.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status with the Institute of Measurement and Control (IMC) or Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is preferred.
  • Experience in specification control and safety system upgrades is advantageous.
  • Knowledge in field instrumentation, analyzers, and safety shutdown systems.
  • Experience in sizing flow devices, control valves, and relief devices.
  • Participation in HAZOP, LOPA, Alarm Reviews, and SIL Determination is desirable.
  • Familiarity with IEC 61511 Safety Lifecycle and Emergency Shutdown System architecture.
  • Functional Safety Engineer qualification (TUV or similar) is a plus.
  • Experience with Fire & Gas systems and compliance with BS5839-1.
  • Knowledge of IT, Telecoms, Networks, Access Control, and CCTV Systems is beneficial.
  • Expertise in managing instrumentation and control requirements for mechanical packages.
  • Ability to interface effectively with Client Engineers and manage vendor relationships.
  • Strong technical background and experience in relevant codes of practice and statutory documentation.
  • Proficient in design and assessment methods used within the discipline.
