Clinical Nutrition Specialist Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nutrition Specialist to join our team at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust. As a Clinical Nutrition Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and support related to nutritional nursing assessment, enteral feeding, and parenteral nutrition.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a seamless enteral feeding access service across primary and secondary care, working closely with colleagues in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation (HIOW) Trust. This will involve:

  • Providing nurse-led services to inpatient wards for enteral feeding access
  • Leading a planned weekly home enteral nutrition (HEN) clinic for outpatients
  • Supporting the emergency department and community colleagues to avoid acute admission
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Educated to degree level
  • Evidence of post-registration study in specialised area
  • Knowledge of national guidelines and best practice related to nutrition
  • Competent in gastrostomy assessment and insertion of enteral feeding tubes
Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and empower others. You will also need to be physically able to fulfill the duties of the role and have a good level of IT skills.
