About the Role

KPMG's Tax practice is a dynamic and successful area of our business, offering a broad range of quality career paths to ambitious individuals.

We are seeking a Tax Assistant Manager to provide tax advisory, compliance management, and business development services to our clients and targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the principal contact with clients on day-to-day tax matters, working with managers, senior managers, directors, or partners on larger clients.
  • Be involved in tax advisory and planning work on client portfolios, working with senior colleagues and specialists to deliver expertise to the local market.
  • Assist with business development and attend client events, responding to requests for other KPMG services.
  • Coordinate a number of different teams internally to provide a single point of contact for clients in delivering a comprehensive cross-tax offering.
  • Work with the tax computation processing team in the management and delivery of tax compliance work, monitoring the tax compliance position using tax administration software.
  • Review corporation tax computations and advise clients on the computational treatment of contentious issues.
  • Coordinate tax payments, loss relief, capital allowances, group relief, and other claims.
  • Delegate delivery of work to junior colleagues while maintaining control of quality and timetables.
  • Coach and develop more junior members of staff.
  • Maintain strong financial management of client accounts, ensuring fees are raised regularly and identifying situations where overruns can be billed.
  • Keep internal control records up to date and ensure compliance with quality control procedures.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Hold a professional qualification (ACA or CTA or equivalent).
  • Have sound knowledge of UK corporate taxation and preferably awareness of international tax issues.
  • Have sound knowledge of accountancy principles, particularly accounting for tax (including deferred taxation and accounts disclosures).
  • Exhibit strong time and task management skills, remaining calm under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Sustain a high level of drive, show enthusiasm, and a positive attitude when coping with pressure at work.
  • Monitor and uphold high-quality service and products to clients (internal and external), adopting a practical approach to problems with client focus and commercial awareness.
  • Take personal responsibility and accountability for own work, continuously learning from experiences and seeking out feedback and development opportunities.
  • Be able to build good relationships with clients.
  • Communicate with impact in a way that is open, honest, consistent, and clear.
  • Be able to work as part of a team, giving clear directions, positive and constructive feedback, and coaching less experienced staff.
  • Work in a cooperative, respectful manner with colleagues, clients, and the wider community.
