Job Summary:

NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde is seeking a skilled Healthcare Support Worker to join our team in Older Peoples Mental Health. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality care and support to patients, promoting their physical and psychological well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver care and support to patients on an Older Peoples Mental Health Ward, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to promote patient-centered care and recovery.
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment, promoting therapeutic relationships with patients and other professional disciplines.
  • Identify, respond, and report changes in patients' physical and psychological needs to a trained member of staff.
  • Work within GGC policies and procedures to ensure safe working practices, including Infection Control, Health and Safety, and Moving and Handling.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of care plans, working in partnership with patients, carers, and other professionals.
  • Practice within a legal and ethical framework, adhering to the Healthcare Support Workers Code of Professional Conduct, national mental health legislation, and local policies and guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with patients, carers, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing competing demands.
  • Knowledge of mental health care principles and practices, with a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the development and implementation of care plans.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
