Design Manager

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team at GHA Recruitment Ltd. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in design management, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
Job Description:The Design Manager will be responsible for managing the design program, including processes, information flow, BIM, design assurances, and design resource on major projects ranging up to £10m. The successful candidate will have a good track record of solving complex metalwork problems and will be able to represent our client with architects, main contractors, engineers, and subcontractors.
The Design Manager will also be responsible for managing design risk and mitigating it, as well as managing the flow of technical information on the project. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with architectural and bespoke steelwork, and will be able to read and interpret engineer's and architect's drawings.
The Design Manager will work closely with the commercial, project, production, and site departments to ensure that all design deliverables are reviewed to establish they are within budget. The successful candidate will also be responsible for producing project-specific designer agreements and will have knowledge of current drawing practice and standards related to 3D model build, connections detailing, and fabrication drawings.
The Design Manager will have experience and understanding of strong knowledge of construction materials, specifically metalwork, methods, and technology, as well as strong knowledge of planning techniques, procurement, and value creation. The ideal candidate will also have good knowledge of contracts and contract documentation, health, safety, and environment legislation and issues, and life cycle costs.
The Design Manager will be able to work to the company's procedures and ensure the flow of information and document controlling is maintained to a high level. The successful candidate will also have risk management skills and will be able to manage design risk and mitigate it.
We are looking for a Design Manager who is able to work independently and as part of a team, and who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and will be able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
