About the Role

New College Swindon is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Safeguarding Officer to join our passionate and highly skilled team in Safeguarding.

As a Senior Safeguarding Officer, you will work directly with students to provide pastoral support and develop personal resilience strategies. You will act as a Deputy to the Safeguarding Manager and help provide support to the function of the Designated Teacher.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality pastoral support to students, including crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  • Work closely with the Safeguarding Manager and Designated Teacher to ensure effective safeguarding practices, including risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide regular updates to staff and management, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support staff in their safeguarding roles, providing guidance on best practice and facilitating training and development opportunities.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Safeguarding, with a strong understanding of child protection policies and procedures.
  • Experience working in Safeguarding, Child Protection, Youth Work/Justice, Social Services or Counselling, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality support services.
  • Knowledge of referral systems, including the ability to identify and respond to safeguarding concerns.
  • High standards of communication and organisation, with excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
