Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Urology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will provide high-quality holistic care, treatment, education, health promotion, and well-being to patients with urological cancer, while supporting their families and carers.

Main Duties

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be a core member of the Urology Cancer MDT and will provide expert advice and guidance on the management of urology cancer and the patient pathway. They will also be responsible for supporting the development and growth of the service, including the new one-stop diagnostic clinic for patients with suspected prostate cancer.

Person Specification
  • First-level RGN registration
  • Teaching qualification (e.g., ENB 998) or extensive experience
  • Educated to Degree level
  • Relevant post-registration qualifications in oncology/haematology/palliative care
  • Evidence of recent professional development
Knowledge and Experience
  • Working in the healthcare sector with staff management experience
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the cancer, palliative care, and EOL agenda
  • Significant post-registration experience in oncology and caring for patients with cancer
  • Understanding of the cancer patient and carer issues and their role in service improvement
  • Evidence of innovation/change management
