International Trade Compliance Specialist
The role of trade compliance is essential in ensuring the smooth and lawful movement of goods across borders by adhering to both domestic and international regulations concerning tariffs, hazardous materials, export regulations, and supply chain integrity while promoting global commerce. This encompasses everything from strategic planning and system implementation to ongoing enhancements at the local level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the pursuit of Operational Excellence within the organization by establishing and enforcing protocols aimed at reducing risks and enhancing the security of goods movement in the international supply chain.
- Champion operational compliance through effective risk management practices.
- Oversee local customs operations within the designated region.
- Act as the Export Control Officer for the health systems division.
- Initiate, lead, and manage local trade compliance enhancement initiatives, including training programs, process and system implementations, and compliance assessments.
- Implement global trade compliance strategies to optimize costs and ensure adherence to regulations.
- Serve as a liaison with governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as global business partners, to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with various departments such as Corporate Tax, Customs, Finance, Human Resources, and IT.
- Manage trade compliance projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to requirements.
- Prepare and present compliance reports.
- Plan and execute continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support activities related to the Goods Flow Control Board.
- Contribute to the development and execution of assessment or audit plans and policies.
- Manage communications with customs brokers and carriers for customs-related matters, escalating issues to the central trade compliance team as necessary.
- Assist sector supply leads in managing relationships with third-party suppliers.
- Participate in regular performance and KPI evaluations, coordinating necessary actions.
- Identify and implement PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) activities with third-party suppliers.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in trade compliance or customs operations is essential.
- Strong understanding of post-Brexit regulations is required.
- Familiarity with medical device regulations, including MDD and MDR in the UK and EU, is preferred.
