Position: Waste Services Operative - LGV Driver

Work Schedule: 41.89 hours per week

A vacancy has emerged for a Waste Services Operative (LGV Driver) within the Waste Services department.

Your role will involve delivering a high-quality refuse collection service to the local community.

You will be responsible for performing various skilled refuse collection and recycling tasks, ensuring adherence to the Environmental Protection Act, Council Policies, and Health and Safety regulations.

Applicants must possess a valid HGV license and a CPC card (Certificate of Professional Competence).

Prior experience in refuse collection, recycling, and knowledge of health and safety protocols in cleansing operations will be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct driving duties for refuse collection vehicles, performing vehicle inspections and necessary routine maintenance, and reporting any defects or repairs.

- Provide training related to vehicles and specialized equipment.

- Supervise the refuse collection team, including task allocation and planning daily routes based on service requests.

- Maximize the operational efficiency of the vehicle and crew utilization.

- Complete all required documentation, including worksheets, vehicle checks, and tachograph records.

- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work.

- Serve as the primary contact for public inquiries and provide information regarding recycling programs and the full range of services offered.
