Technical Director – Ecology Lead

Location: Flexible, with offices in York, Manchester, and Edinburgh

Salary: Up to £70k

Our client is a leading consultancy specialising in Planning, Design, and the Environment. They prioritise protecting the planet, putting people first, contributing to the community, and delivering excellence in everything they do.

Following strong growth in client base and new instructions, they have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Director – Ecology Lead to work closely with the Director of Ecology to grow a new ecology and biodiversity team in the north. Their multidisciplinary proposition spans across Planning, Architecture, Arboriculture, Ecology, Archaeology, and Heritage.

The Role

As a Technical Director for the Northern region, you will be responsible for all aspects of growing and managing a successful ecology business at a divisional level. You will have autonomy to drive change, deliver excellence, and grow our client base in the regions under your accountability. You will be supported by the wider Ecology team.

Your role is to build and lead a successful ecology and biodiversity team based in the Northern area. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leadership and management experience
  • Strong client management and resolution skills, including presenting at senior levels and across stakeholders
  • Excellent project management skills, with timeliness and accuracy
  • Strong report writing skills and ability to quality assure colleagues' work, providing constructive feedback
  • Strong commercial knowledge
  • Exemplary knowledge and expertise of relevant legislation and policy
