Main Responsibilities

The successful applicant will manage a comprehensive administrative support service for the Head of Radiology and Radiology Consultants, as well as the Deputy Imaging Support Manager. Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating communication with colleagues and departments to ensure seamless support for all consultant radiologists and the Radiology Services Manager.
  • Acting as a deputy for the Imaging Support Manager during their absence.
  • Providing occasional assistance to specialist registrars.

Key qualities for this role include strong prioritization skills, attention to detail, and leadership experience.

The post-holder will collaborate with the Departmental P.A. to support consultant radiologists and radiology specialist registrars, while also taking on academic tasks as needed.

The Imaging department operates under a high-quality management system and has maintained UKAS QSI Accreditation since February 2018. Flexibility to work at various locations as required is necessary.

Detailed Job Description and Responsibilities

The role of a Departmental P.A. differs from that of a Medical Secretary in terms of responsibility. The post-holder will:

  • Serve as a secretariat member supporting multiple consultants and the Service Manager, covering a diverse range of duties including diary management and departmental organization.
  • Deputize for the Imaging Support Manager, overseeing staff coordination and managing absences.

1.1 Provide comprehensive administrative services to the Head of Radiology, Service Manager, and Radiology Consultants.

1.2 Act as the primary contact for radiologists and consultant radiographers within the department.

1.3 Coordinate with medical secretaries and other disciplines to ensure continuity of operations between consultants.

  • Educated to O/A level or equivalent.
  • Proficient in standard IT software packages for documentation.
  • Skilled in audio typing (minimum 60 wpm).

Desirable Criteria

  • Secretary/PA Diploma.
