Our client, Lansbury Construction Services Ltd, is in search of a skilled Commercial Operations Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor prepared to advance in their career.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the financial and contractual management of site operations and subcontractors.
2. Lead all site-related commercial activities, maintaining an up-to-date overview of all financial site matters.
3. Identify and capitalize on commercial opportunities while minimizing financial risks at the construction site.
4. Guide and supervise other commercial personnel on-site, delegating tasks effectively to the team.
Claims Management:
5. Responsible for managing claims related to site activities, ensuring the establishment of necessary documentation, assessing risks, and evaluating both incoming and outgoing claim potentials in close collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
6. Ensure that all commercial aspects of changes, deviations, and claims are accurately documented in the Project Information Reporting System (PIRS) in partnership with technical, project, and procurement teams.
Collaboration and Communication:
7. Participate in regular site meetings with the project team, subcontractors, consortium, and clients, ensuring accurate verification of meeting minutes.
8. Ensure proper administration of payment processes in accordance with contractual obligations and legal requirements, issuing relevant documents promptly.
9. Collaborate with technical or project personnel in commercial negotiations to secure agreements with subcontractors for designated packages.
10. Address, propose solutions for, or escalate site-related commercial issues as necessary.
Support and Compliance:
11. Assist the Project Director and Contract Manager in addressing client-related commercial matters, alerting them to site issues that may impact contractual agreements.
12. Confirm compliance of site contractors with insurance and security provisions throughout the execution phase.
13. Regularly inform the Commercial Manager and Site Manager about commercial risks and opportunities.
14. Support the Contract Manager in providing necessary information to insurers in the event of a claim.
Team Dynamics:
15. Foster constructive relationships within the team, as well as with other site personnel and subcontractors.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in delivering major projects, particularly in the construction of industrial facilities.
- Familiarity with relevant Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) legal requirements.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in change management and claims production.
- Ability to work independently and flexibly while adhering to company policies and standards.
- Experience on project construction sites is advantageous.
Performance in this role must align with applicable HSEQ legal requirements and Management System standards.
