Position Overview:
The role of Senior Simulator Maintenance Engineer involves overseeing the maintenance and operational support of advanced Full Flight Simulators and various training devices. This position is crucial for ensuring the reliability and performance of our training systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a dedicated team responsible for the upkeep and support of simulation devices.
- Serve as the primary contact for customers regarding technical and logistical inquiries.
- Manage team workload and strategize future maintenance planning.
- Execute maintenance tasks as part of a cohesive team, ensuring seamless service delivery.
- Maintain necessary qualifications as a Device Coordinator.
Essential Duties:
- Engage with customers to address technical and logistical challenges.
- Oversee maintenance team operations, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Provide guidance and support to other departments to maximize training availability.
- Diagnose and resolve faults efficiently.
- Conduct scheduled maintenance routines for simulators.
- Investigate and rectify ongoing simulator issues.
- Perform simulator setup and pre-flight inspections.
- Assist in annual re-certification processes and related reporting.
- Manage simulator software and configuration systems.
- Collaborate with design and testing teams to address defects and enhance products.
- Implement and test software updates and new loads.
- Oversee spare parts management, including ordering and tracking repairs.
- Monitor and document usage, reliability, and maintainability of training devices.
- Mentor junior staff members.
- Conduct safety briefings for new instructors.
- Operate simulators for testing and demonstration purposes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum educational qualifications of BTEC/HTQ, HND/HNC or equivalent experience.
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge in electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with aircraft systems and ability to interpret engineering diagrams.
- Proficient in navigating aircraft manuals and documentation.
- Prior experience with Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTD) is advantageous.
- Demonstrated flexibility and innovative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
