Position Overview

The NHS North East London Integrated Care Board (ICB) is on the lookout for a highly skilled Senior Midwife to oversee and direct the Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS). This pivotal role will ensure expert guidance and assurance within the maternity and neonatal care framework.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO), Directors and Heads of Midwifery, as well as the Co-Chairs of the NEL LMNS. This collaboration will focus on providing senior clinical oversight and assurance to successfully implement our ambitious Maternity and Neonatal initiatives, including the Maternity Incentive Scheme and the Demand and Capacity recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

The individual in this role will be expected to engage in partnership with Maternity and Neonatal Vision Programme (MNVP) Leads, local authorities, and stakeholders from the voluntary and independent sectors, as well as social care and public health partners.

The LMNS operates under a hybrid working model, which allows for a combination of remote and office-based work.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree-level education
  • Registered Clinical Midwifery practitioner with current NMC registration
  • Post-graduate degree or equivalent

Required Experience

  • Relevant experience in maternity management and service delivery
  • Proven track record in implementing change and redesigning systems/services to enhance quality and value
  • Significant experience in strategic planning, project implementation, and monitoring
  • Experience operating effectively in politically sensitive environments
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

Knowledge Requirements

  • Demonstrated post-registration knowledge and development
  • In-depth understanding of the challenges facing maternity services in London, particularly in North East London
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current NHS policies, especially those related to the Three Year Delivery Plan and Integrated Care
