Consultant Ophthalmologist with Special Interest in Cornea and External Diseases

This role is to provide high-level consultant services for Cornea and External diseases and General Ophthalmology to maintain the capacity of the departments to manage the volume of referrals into the Trust. The post holder will be expected to diagnose and treat a wide range of Anterior segment conditions, including complex cases.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe post holder will be based at the Queen Victoria Hospital, a specialist NHS hospital providing life-changing reconstructive surgery, burns care, and rehabilitation services across the South of England and beyond. This post is full-time and includes SPA's for supporting professional activities and administration.
The post holder will be expected to provide a minimum of 4 to 5 clinics a week, with the associated admin time and access to theatres. Consideration will be given for time off in lieu due to bank holidays if the post holder is required to work on a bank holiday or on call over a bank holiday. This post will have on-call responsibilities of a 1 in 7, with cover for the whole week.

Person SpecificationQualifications and Experience
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree at time of application
- Successful completion of FRCOphth or equivalent at time of application
- Entry on the UK Specialist Register via: CCT, or proposed CCT date must be within six months of the interview date
- Significant experience of NHS working practices
