Job Overview
The Royal Marsden is seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Therapist to lead our team in the management of head and neck cancer patients. As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for developing and delivering training programs, disseminating knowledge, and providing a holistic clinical service to patients with complex communication and swallowing disorders.
Main Duties
- Assess, diagnose, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate treatment programs for patients with head and neck cancer-related communication and swallowing disorders.
- Develop and deliver training programs for professionals and other staff on head and neck oncology.
- Disseminate knowledge on head and neck oncology through reading, research, and advanced clinical practice.
- Provide clinical supervision to SLT students and develop case management skills in less experienced staff.
Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree leading to RCSLT license to practice.
- Registered MRCSLT.
- Registered member of HCPC.
- Master/MSc or equivalent post-graduate specialist training and membership/committee role in relevant CENs.
- Attended highly specialist/expert short courses relevant to working with adults with communication and/or swallowing disorders.
Experience
- Demonstrable experience of working at a specialist level with adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders from head and neck cancers.
- Evidence of developing and delivering training.
- Clinical supervision of SLT students.
