We are seeking a highly skilled Design Manager to lead our product design team at Professional Technical Ltd. As a key member of our engineering office, you will be responsible for building a new generation of innovative products.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead design studies and resolve technical or consumer-related challenges, both independently and collaboratively.
• Gather insight from professional and consumer feedback and guide the team to implement into streamlined design solutions.
• Develop and mentor a high-performing team, guiding their growth and maximizing their potential.
• Manage recruitment in line with business growth.
• Take overall ownership of designs through conception, CAD execution, prototyping, and verification, while consistently working at pace and successfully develop the team to do the same.
• Continuously evaluate and improve designs for cost-effectiveness, manufacturing improvements, increased quality, and value to consumers.
• Apply engineering and product design standards, such as DFMEA, DFM, tolerance stack analysis, and FAI, to deliver effective solutions.
• Apply understanding and experience of high-volume manufacturing processes and materials to optimize designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless transition from concept to production.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Degree in Product Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Design Engineering.
• Proven experience in Mechanical/Product Design environment.
• At least 2 years of experience in people management.
• Experience in the consumer goods household appliance space is desirable.
• Experience with plastic manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo and demonstrable experience of leading CAD reviews.
• Ability to motivate the team to identify, solve, implement, and verify technical solutions autonomously.
• Ability to effectively manage the 'hands-on' - building of prototypes, product testing in the lab, developing, and reporting.
