We are seeking a skilled and motivated Transmission Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team at Project People.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining transmission systems to ensure efficient and reliable communication networks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform network assessments to evaluate the current Ethernet setup and identify necessary modifications.
  • Configure network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) for IPVPN connectivity, ensuring compatibility and integration of existing Ethernet network components with the new IPVPN setup.
  • Execute the migration process, including the configuration and testing of IPVPN connections.
  • Resolve tools & systems data integrity issues and operational performance issues (break-fix).
  • Perform live performance analysis (fault identification).
  • Work closely with the capacity function to ensure that Transmission and Transport capacity requirements are identified.
  • Identify planning tool requirements to support the delivery of transmission solutions, consolidation, and evolution to future technologies.
  • Liaise with suppliers & service providers and act as a key management and technical point of contact.
Requirements
  • Significant knowledge of transmission technologies (leased line and radio) design knowledge and experience, including Ethernet, IP technology, SDH, ATM.
  • In-depth knowledge of IPVPN technologies and protocols (e.g., MPLS, IPsec).
  • Strong understanding of Ethernet networking, including VLANs, STP, and trunking.
  • Hands-on experience of transmission planning and circuit planning tools in creating transmission solutions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to anticipate potential issues and implement proactive solutions.
  • Optimization of capacity and performance of transmission networks.
  • Experience in a Network Operator or Managed Service Provider environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of project delivery on time and to customer satisfaction.
  • Strong knowledge of 2G/3G/4G Mobile Transmission Networks.
