Job Description

**Job Summary**

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Plant Operations Manager to join our team at Tradebe Management Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of our waste treatment plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Site Manager in ensuring the facility operates within established operational standards.
  • Manage a team of shift personnel to achieve business objectives.
  • Oversee the processing operation of the waste treatment plant, maintaining compliance with health and safety, environmental, procedural, and statutory goals.
  • Perform day-to-day maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Respond to plant break-downs and negotiate with external contractors or suppliers.

The Role

  • Manage plant personnel maintenance requirements for optimal performance.
  • Promote health and safety on site, including the PROUD ethos.
  • Support the Site Manager in operations shift management, including cover arrangements for holidays, sickness, or shift changes.
  • Line manage plant personnel, ensuring training, absence management, performance management, and disciplinary processes.
  • Propose solutions to issues that may occur on the plant, ensuring plans are made in advance of planned shut-downs.
  • Ensure daily checks, response sheets, and inspections are completed, with faults recorded and reported.
  • Responsible for planned preventative maintenance, permit to works, and annual services.
  • Control inventory, chemicals, and 3rd-party contractors, and escalate out-of-hours responses.
  • Ensure relevant documentation is completed and filed, including document controls and statutory inspections.
  • Ensure safe operation of all plant areas at all times.
  • Analyze plant delays and propose solutions to repetitive issues.
  • Take a proactive approach to health and safety, ensuring compliance in all areas and overseeing continual improvements.
  • Ensure waste is stored in accordance with the site permit and manage waste volumes within guidelines.
  • Work with the Site Manager and SHEQ support to ensure risk assessments are up-to-date and staff are trained.
  • Produce periodic reports for submission to the company and/or regulator.

SHEQ Requirements

  • Working knowledge of the EA Permit.
  • Understanding of HSE and Responsibilities.
  • Ensure Safe Working Procedures are up-to-date.
  • Ensure Risk Assessments are relevant and up-to-date.
  • Working knowledge of LOLER, PUWER, and COSHH.
  • Responsible for financial control and contractor finances, including SBL.
  • Ensure PO numbers for suppliers are raised in a timely manner.

The Person

  • Experience working within a process industry or with process equipment.
  • Experience of Environmental Legislation.
  • Mechanical or electrical apprenticeship or equivalent preferred.
  • Proven team management skills.
