Join Our Team as a Corporate Director of Climate and Environment

Islington London Borough Council is committed to creating a more sustainable and green future for its community. Our 2030 vision aims to make Islington a net-zero carbon borough, and we need a dedicated professional to lead our Climate and Environment Directorate.

As a Corporate Director of Climate and Environment, you will work closely with our Chief Executive and senior leadership team to drive sustainable change in the borough. Your role will involve leading the Climate and Environment Directorate, taking strategic responsibility for all its services, including environmental services, parks, green and natural spaces, leisure, and strategies towards our net-zero goal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Climate and Environment Directorate and its services
  • Develop and implement strategies for achieving net-zero carbon emissions
  • Work with the senior leadership team to drive sustainable change in the borough
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve energy efficiency, reduce transport emissions, and promote a green economy

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in environmental sustainability and climate change
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and teams
  • Passion for creating a sustainable and green future
