About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Second Chef to join our catering team at Care UK. As a Second Chef, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchens, working closely with the Head Chef to deliver high-quality meals to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen management
  • Take control of running the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Develop and implement new menu ideas, using fresh local produce and modern kitchen equipment
  • Consult with residents to ensure their dietary needs are met and prepare food accordingly
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene
Requirements
  • Catering Diploma (City & Guilds/BTEC) and NVQ 2/3 in practical cookery and Health and Safety
  • Food Hygiene Certificates (minimum level 2)
  • Good knowledge of nutritionally balanced menu planning and ability to cater for specific dietary needs
  • Experience of working in a care home and/or stock control or working with a budget is desirable
