Physiotherapist - Primary Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physiotherapist to join our team at Southend East Primary Care Network. As a Primary Care Physiotherapist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our musculoskeletal services.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Practice
- Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with complex musculoskeletal conditions, taking responsibility for a caseload and progressing investigations and referrals as necessary.
- Develop and utilize your full scope of clinical practice, including skills related to independent prescribing, injection therapy, and investigation.
- Manage complex interactions, including working with patients with psychosocial and mental health needs, and referring to social prescribing services when appropriate.
- Deliver programs of supported patient self-management, facilitating behavioral change, optimizing physical activity, mobility, and independence, and minimizing the need for pharmacological interventions.
- Provide care tailored to individual needs, including appraising the impact of clinical status on general health, well-being, employment status, and function.
- Support patients in setting their own goals and being confident in their approach to self-management.
- Evidence, Research, and Development
- Develop relationships and a collaborative working approach across the PCN, supporting the integration of pathways in primary care.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a patient-facing role, using your expert knowledge of MSK issues to create stronger links for wider MSK services through clinical leadership, teaching, and evaluation skills.
- Support research and audit programs to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of our First Contact Practitioner service.
- Streamline the pathway of care by providing a responsive service, ensuring patients receive timely access to care.
- Leadership
- Lead, manage, and contribute to service delivery.
- Implement all aspects of effective clinical governance for your practice, including regular audit and evaluation, supervision, and training.
- Communicate effectively and appropriately with patients and carers, conveying complex and sensitive information regarding diagnosis, pathology, prognosis, and treatment choices, supporting personalized care.
- Facilitating Learning
- Provide feedback and support to other PCN clinical team members on appropriate referral criteria.
- Critically reflect on your own practice, continuing to develop your skills.
Qualifications
- Essential
- Fully HCPC and CSP registered practicing Physiotherapist.
- Desirable
- Completion of some level 7 MSc learning. Qualified injection therapist and/or independent prescriber.
Experience
- Essential
- Minimum 5 years post-graduate physiotherapy experience. Minimum 3 years of clinical experience delivering musculoskeletal assessment and treatment.
- Desirable
- Previous clinical experience of first contact triage clinical work; even if in the private sector. Previous experience of working in a GP practice. Previous experience of using EMIS/SystmOne.
ARRS Requirements
- Essential
- a. Has completed an undergraduate degree in physiotherapy;
- b. Is registered with the Health and Care Professional Council;
- c. Holds the relevant public liability insurance;
- d. Has a Masters Level qualification or the equivalent specialist knowledge, skills, and experience;
- e. Can demonstrate working at Level 7 capability in MSK related areas of practice or equivalent (such as advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment);
- f. Can demonstrate ability to operate at an advanced level of practice.
