About the Hygiene Supervisor Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Hygiene Supervisor to join our team at our Rice Mill in Fulbourn. The successful candidate will report to the QA Manager and be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Mill, particularly the production areas, while supervising 2 Hygiene Operatives.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Allocating duties according to the Hygiene Plans and trained abilities, ensuring a thorough understanding of the Hygiene Plan and effective communication with relevant personnel to achieve optimum performance.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation, developing and implementing action plans to maximize the potential benefits for the business.
  • Supervising the planning and delivery of standards for BRC Audits, Customer Audits, and visits, ensuring the team is clear on their responsibilities.
  • Supervising the development and training of all Site Hygiene Operatives in activities and standards required.
  • Ensuring daily cleaning documentation is completed on a timely basis and conducting routine checks to ensure compliance.
  • Ensuring compliance with Company Food Safety, GMP, and Hygiene policies and procedures at all times.
  • Adopting a clean-as-you-go policy to maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the work area.
  • Ensuring chemicals are stored and handled correctly, and colleagues use appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Supervising the day-to-day Pest Control program.
  • Arranging work permits, silo isolation, and lock-off with engineers prior to silo cleaning/high-level cleaning performed by external contractors.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Hygiene Supervisor or Hygiene Team Leader in a food manufacturing environment is ideal, or looking for the next level up.
  • Proven people management skills.
  • Good understanding of H&S requirements, including the ability to understand and use cleaning work instructions, procedures, and safe systems of work.
  • Experience in handling chemicals and understanding COSHH requirements.
  • Ability to attend relevant training courses, including Food Safety training.
  • Effective prioritization of a demanding workload to ensure all KPIs are achieved.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Work and Excel.
