Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead critical infrastructure projects, overseeing project timelines and financial management.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage with stakeholders effectively.
  • Plan and execute field surveys; analyze and interpret data collected.
  • Design and coordinate ecological mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and review various ecological reports and permit applications.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Manage project inquiries, develop proposals, and foster client relationships.
  • Establish and maintain robust working relationships with colleagues, clients, and external organizations.
  • Support the growth of ecological initiatives in the Southern region by networking with clients across the UK.
Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
  • Membership in the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or equivalent, with chartership (CEcol or CEnv) preferred.
  • A degree in ecology or a related discipline is advantageous.
  • Proven project management skills, including technical, financial, and quality assurance expertise.
  • Strong botanical identification skills, ideally with Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) level 4+ or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of UK Habitat surveys, habitat condition assessments, and the Defra Biodiversity Metric, with experience in Biodiversity Net Gain assessments.
  • Exceptional report writing abilities, including experience with Preliminary Ecological Assessments and Ecological Impact Assessments.
  • Experience in quality assurance and technical leadership roles on projects.
  • Experience with Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects and familiarity with the Development Consent Order (DCO) process is advantageous.
  • Possession of protected species survey licenses.
  • A valid UK driving license.

Compensation and Benefits:

We provide a competitive salary, regularly benchmarked against industry standards, along with a default of 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with options to buy or sell leave. Salary and benefits will align with experience and qualifications.

Additional Information:

This position may require security clearance, and offers of employment will depend on obtaining the necessary level of clearance. If applicable, this will be discussed during the interview process. The vetting process is conducted by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require proof of residency in the UK for a minimum of five years.
