Position Overview

This is a permanent Consultant role in the field of Medical Oncology, primarily based at a leading healthcare institution. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in clinical responsibilities and contribute to the advancement of oncology services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume clinical and administrative oversight for designated oncology specialties and patient care, collaborating with fellow consultants, clinical teams, and other healthcare professionals involved in oncology management.
  • Maintain ongoing responsibility for the well-being of patients under your care, ensuring alignment with departmental operational policies and strategic objectives.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings, adhering to national standards and engaging in peer review processes.
  • Commit to research initiatives and facilitate patient participation in clinical trials.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of clinical standards within the oncology service, fostering collaboration with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Uphold professional standards in oncology practice, ensuring compliance with national and local quality benchmarks.
  • Engage as a member of the multidisciplinary team within the directorate.
  • Attend relevant national, network, and local meetings as necessary.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical governance, including participation in clinical audits and ongoing medical education.
  • Collaborate with local management to ensure efficient service delivery and share in the medical management responsibilities within the Trust.
  • Participate in educational programs for medical staff, students, and other healthcare personnel, including introductory training for junior medical staff.
  • Engage in the on-call rota alongside other consultants.
  • Adhere to departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
